1896 Aladdin General Store

1901 The Virginian Hotel
When it opened in 1901, the Virginian Hotel was the grandest stop between Chicago and San Francisco on the Union Pacific Railroad. Named after The Virginian—the iconic Western novel penned in nearby Medicine Bow by Owen Wister, a close friend of President Teddy Roosevelt—the hotel welcomed everyone from cowboys to dignitaries. Towering over a town of just 284, it remains a proud landmark and symbol of Wyoming’s frontier spirit.

1911 The Colter Lodge
In 1807 John Colter was the first mountain man to”discover” (tribal people were there for millenia) what became Yellowstone & Grand Teton National Parks.
